Cambridge Quality Care (CQC) is a healthcare staffing company that places long-term nursing personnel in skilled nursing facilities. Headquartered in Brooklyn, New York, the company has 2,000 employees located at ten remote locations throughout Florida.
Challenge: A time and attendance system that didn’t get the job done
When CQC approached Stromberg, they were dissatisfied with the way their current time and attendance system was running. “The system wasn’t working properly for us, and even the simplest changes or questions resulted in extra costs. We didn’t want to pay for every last thing,” says Joseph Edelstein, IT Manager for CQC. When CQC purchased their system, the vendor was just developing time and attendance software. As time passed, the vendor’s focus changed, which negatively affected their client relationship with CQC.
CQC employees used hand punch readers to clock in. Since CQC wanted to use their existing equipment, they needed a vendor that could use the time clocks and offer superior time and attendance technology. “We wanted centralized management of our Human Resources data,” claims Edelstein. “The data had to be sent automatically in real-time to the database without any effort on our part.”
CQC also wanted to run a parallel test of the new system to ensure that it would run properly. Stromberg and CQC ran the parallel test with extremely positive results.
Solution: Use Stromberg’s payroll interface to collect data from clocks
As a result of the test, CQC immediately replaced their current system with a combination of Stromberg’s Enterprise time and attendance software and Ultimate Software. Part of this solution used Ultimate Software’s UtiliPro payroll interface to:
The process resulted in fewer payroll processing errors and ensured that CQC employees were being paid for the hours they worked. Stromberg was able to use CQC’s existing time clocks and provided the features they needed from a time and attendance system.
“The flexibility provided by Stromberg is excellent. Our multiple remote locations are able to access all of our payroll and human resources data instantly. With Stromberg, we receive up-to-date live punches on all of our employees,” notes Edelstein. “We’re very happy with the level of service that Stromberg provides.”
No more lost data
With their previous vendor, CQC could only do backups on a local computer, which at times resulted in lost data. With Stromberg, CQC exports their data to their FTP site over the Internet to a centralized database. Backups are built in so data is never lost.
A new relationship
CQC can grow with Stromberg as they add additional remote locations. Stromberg’s free lifetime upgrades ensure that CQC will always have the latest software version and will help mitigate the problem of an outdated system. “We see the relationship with Stromberg as a partnership, and we look forward to a future with them,” says Edelstein.
