Bacardi Bottling was ultra-efficient in getting the goods to market. Stromberg was there when they had questions about time and attendance.

Bacardi, a leading manufacturer of quality spirits, sells more than 240 million bottles of rum each year worldwide. Bottling such a massive inventory is no small task. Located in Jacksonville, Florida, Bacardi Bottling Corporation's enormous plant offloads rum shipped from Puerto Rico onto tanker trucks for processing and bottling. To meet tight deadlines, this process requires unprecedented efficiency by hundreds of employees.

Challenge: Poor support for time and attendance data collection. Before choosing Stromberg, Bacardi Bottling was renting its time and attendance system from a payroll company. "Our previous time and attendance product was outdated and inefficient," says Cathy Haga, CPP, Payroll Specialist for Bacardi Bottling. At one point, the clocks weren’t even communicating with the time and attendance system. Support from the vendor was so poor that Bacardi was forced to consider a more responsive time and attendance supplier.

Solution: Stromberg's dedicated technical support

For time and attendance, Bacardi purchased Stromberg's Enterprise system, Ethernet barcode time clocks, and e-Supervisor Web product. For payroll, they chose Paychex. Bacardi employees already carried barcoded badges for security purposes and to clock in.

"Right from the start, supervisors thought the system was really easy to use," claims Haga. "In the beginning, one of our Day Shift Line Leaders was hesitant to use the new tools. But after he was trained, he really embraced the system. He could run reports on his employees and see in real time who was coming in late." When employees called in sick, supervisors could also run reports to see how much sick time employees had and track their sick time balances.

Better control with automated reports

At Bacardi, each supervisor manages from two to 30 employees. Stromberg helped put supervisors more in control of their teams. Being able to control the workforce through the use of automated reports resulted in fewer inquiries to the payroll department. "Stromberg’s system is very accurate and dependable. I’m confident that when I interface to Paychex to pay employees, the information will be correct," explains Haga.

A responsive team

Since customer service was extremely important to Bacardi, reliable support was a huge factor in picking a vendor. 'Stromberg assigned us a dedicated technical support representative. I also have instant support access through i-Help," Haga notes. "This alleviates the major issue we had with our previous vendor. With Stromberg, we have instant communication with a technical support representative whenever we have questions about the product — a huge improvement over our last vendor."

Stromberg’s live Support Center receptionist greets callers in person, with the guarantee that the client's call will be returned immediately or within 30 minutes — just the type of support that Bacardi had been missing.
